For a period of 4 to 5 weeks (depending on the complexity), your dog will stay at our training facility, Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays), and will receive customized, hands-on instruction and adventures with myself, Monique Anstee. On Thursday we will meet in the community and you will learn how to continue on with your dog's weekly lessons over the weekend. This lesson is normally an hour.
This hybrid approach of sending dogs home for the weekends has many benefits over a traditional long-term Board and Train program. Most importantly, by receiving weekly instruction and practice, both you and your dog grow together, making sure your dog will continue to listen and behave for you at the end of the program. Each Monday I need your feedback regarding your successes and struggles with your homework so that I can customize your dog’s training that week. By the end of the program, you will have a firm grasp on the skills and effort needed to ensure long-term success for you and your dog.
We will help you pick three training goals that you need help with. My time will be spent addressing the underlying causes of the problem behaviour. All programs focus heavily on physical exercise and mental enrichment as the cornerstone for emotional and behavioral wellness.
BENEFITS OF BOARD & TRAIN
Your dog learns directly from an expert and receives several hours of hands-on training each day.
The dogs have a balance of structure and rules, time for mental freedom where they can explore and be free and time working on their social skills with other dogs. Many dogs find this type of lifestyle to be therapeutic.
Less Stress On You
Let me work through the challenging early stages of training and the tedious repetition that you may not have time for.
The amount of time I spend with your dog in the Board and Train program allows me to get to know him or her on a much deeper level. This way I can develop specific strategies and exercises directly targeted toward each individual. This is needed in behavioural cases.
WHY I AM DIFFERENT I do not keep your dog for a month. They are training with me from Monday to Thursday (excluding holidays) but spend weekends at home with you. You will get to see their ongoing progress, yet can still enjoy each other on the weekends. In my training, I change your dogs's opinion on life. I'm not staying home and teaching boring obedience exercises, but rather we are out and about, exploring, and learning how to navigate challenges as we come across them.
I only take three dogs at a time and split my time between them everyday. Your dog will not spend their days locked in a crate.
You and your dog will grow together with my weekly lesson at pickup on Thursdays.
5 weeks: $4650 Plus Tax This program is appropriate for complex behaviour issues, aggression cases, or busy families who want their dream dog. Dogs will be fully trained around high levels of distraction. Off-leash training is included with appropriate equipment.
Street Dogs have unique needs and do not learn in the typical formats given in most B and T programs. These dogs need to be immersed into my full family life, living in my house when possible. Depending upon the dog, they will not go home on the first weekend, maybe more. If they have special environmental requirements needed to help them grow, we will travel to go and find them.
